There were plants and birds. and rocks and things, There was sand and hills and rings. The first thing I met, was a fly with a buzz, And the sky, with no clouds. The heat was hot, and the ground was dry, But the air was full of sound. I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name, It felt good to be out of the rain. In the desert you can remember your name, ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain. After two days, in the desert sun, My skin began to turn red. After three days, in the desert fun, I was looking at a river bed. And the story it told, of a river that flowed, Made me sad to think it was dead. You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name, It felt good to be out of the rain. In the desert you can remember your name, ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain. After nine days, I let the horse run free, ‘Cause the desert had turned to sea. There were plants and birds, and rocks and things, There was sand and hills and rings. The ocean is a desert, with it’s life underground, And a perfect disguise above. Under the cities lies, a heart made of ground, But the humans will give no love. You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name, It felt good to be out of the rain. In the desert you can remember your name, ‘Cause there ain’t no […]

Amazing! Not only the video itself but your work and passion.
Many thanks for sharing and all the best!
@ HomoBotanicus Surely the plant shown is Anastatica heirucuntica which is a flowering plant and from Africa, unlike the spikemoss Selaginella lepidophylla which looks completely different and is not from Africa. I would have expected a botanist to know this.
I like your video 🙂 and thx for sharing 🙂 However, being a botanist I just must comment: selaginellas are NOT seed plants, they have NOT flowers, seeds or seed pods, insects do NOT pollinate selaginellas, as there is nothing to be pollinated 😉
Selaginellas are much older phylogenetically than seed plants. Selaginellas have strobili (not flowers, not inflorescences, although they resemble the spikes a bit), within strobili sporangia are produced, and therein – the spores. The spores germinate into tiny gametophytes, which are completely dissimilar to seed plants' seedlings, which were shown germinating around selaginella plant.
Resurrection plants are special type of xerophytes (xerophytes = plants tolerant to drought) that are able to survive severe dessiccation of their vegetative organs – even down to 5% of relative water content. The term "resurrection plant" is misleading – no plant is able to resurrect from a dead state 😉 Selaginella lepidophylla (which is one of the number of the so called Roses of Jericho) folds into a ball while dessicating, and unfolds when wates is available, the process is recurrent.
whos music is this?
This must be anastaticas right, since selaginella lepidophylla (that go under the same 'popular name') is a moss/fern, which mean it doesn't flower?
I have got one of these Resurrection plants in a pot, are you saying it will flower?
Thank you very much for this video.
Does this plant have a scent?
Where can I buy the Rose of Jericho?
Your videos always make me gasp
