IBM is driving water conservation with a collaboration with Desert Mountain, a golf and residential community with 4,500 residents and six golf courses and the largest reclaimed water user — 26 million gallons — in Scottsdale, AZ. The community will use IBM analytics software on all six of its championship grade golf courses, reducing 10 percent of its water usage and generating 10 percent savings in energy costs related to water pumping and distribution.

Using IBM’s Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) for Smarter Cities with IBM Business Partner UgMO’s sensor solutions, site managers will now be able to obtain real time data in a single view that they can now use to control irrigation systems, monitor exact water supplies and allocate water with unprecedented speed with increased overall efficiency by 50 percent.
