Defining “functional” and “non-functional” grass

In response to the extreme drought conditions in the west that have lasted for more than 20 years, Southern Nevada recently became the first community in the country to ban all “non-functional” grasses by the end of 2026. The Know New Citizens’ committee represents multiple departments in our community, and its task is to define which types of grass can be left and which must be replaced as part of this landmark new law.
