I can't believe I missed this video. WOW, the most amazing display of flesh eating plants ever. I don't think bugs in that area stand a chance. Do you know if they are hand fed, as I couldn't imagine enough flies getting in there to feed them all. Or perhaps those type of plants use sunlight and nutrients, and only feed on insects on occasion. Loved the music too. Thanks for posting this one…..Keith

Good to see there are competent people at the Botanical gardens where you live. Where I live, they couldn't keep a flytrap alive for 5 minutes. They tried to pull off a "carnivorous plant show" and put a bunch of dieing pitcher plants into a dry, hot, over-lit case for them to further wither in, which they called their carnivorous plant show. Also featured were unrealistic giant statues of the carnivores, some unrelated plants, and pictures of plants.

You are so lucky you have a competent botanical garden.

That is a nice collection and there is a lot to see.  They seem to have many kinds of pitcher plants there, but did you see many Sundew plants or Venus Fly-Traps?  Thanks for the tour!

Exciting to see you've ventured into the realm of carnivorous plants.  I have always thought of their cultivation as very similar to that of cacti, except with entirely opposite cultural requirements.

  • Lucky you! That must have been a great experience! Thanks for sharing!
