I’ve been in Vegas since ’92 and a Realtor since ’01. I think the southwest, Summerlin and Green Valley are all really nice areas. Price in Vegas have come way down and you can get a steal right now.? Let me know if you need help finding a place. I’d be happy to help you.

You know, a lot of people in Missouri have had trouble with tomatoes. Mine are setting fruit VERY late. At first I thought it was due to the soil, but then I remembered the heat wave we had in April right after I put them in the ground.? It peaked close to the 90’s for about a week here. I wonder if that stressed the plants too much right after I transplanted them. One plant that I transplanted in May is doing VERY well.

I was really depressed about my garden until I? saw this video this morning.

One of the other problems tomatoes can face here is an infestation of thrips which seems to be really common. They will make the tomatoes look dried out and dead like that. I started getting hit by thrips last month but used a bit of organocide and neem and? they went away.

Actually shading tomatoes in vegas is completely unnecessary. They grow great without it! The trick is planting them early. Once in a while if an actual tomato is exposed to the sun, you can put a tiny piece of shade cloth over it to prevent scald, but i’ve never needed to do that. The foliage provides all the protection they need. I’ve never shaded any of? my tomatoes and i’ve already harvested literally hundreds of pounds of tomatoes out of four 4×8 raised beds this season. 🙂

They need to give those tomatoes shade this time of year. Thanks for the video John. Some of my family in? LV wants to start growing and this will help them out a lot!

Its all about watering & tomatoes dont? like hot sun all day they produce better with some shade or filtered light in the heat of the day.

Bummer about the trash. I’m surprised to see all those water bottles in a community garden trash can. You think they’d? know better. I re-use a VOSS glass water bottle…
Chard really is amazing, isn’t it! It grows just about anywhere…
