hi, i mark out a square foot grid in the dirt, then i take the thin end of a spoon and dig about 9 little holes in each square foot. then i place two turnip seeds in each hole and lightly cover with soil. i water about twice a day until they sprout? and then thin to the strongest turnip in each hole when they get about 3-4 inches tall.
how did? you sow the turnip seeds that thinly?

Fish emulsion is the only fertilizer applied… i mix it in a large 15 gallon tub then hand apply it with a sprinkling can. the soil has some stuff mixed in… its made of 90% compost, 5% perlite,? 5% vermiculite. In each 3’x7′ raised bed i mixed in about 15lbs of azomite rock dust and a couple lbs limestone. Then in the spring before planting anything i top dress each bed with about 10lbs of worm castings and mix it into the top 2 inches of soil.
