Giant cactus in Bendigo

Driving through Bendigo in central Victoria, you may meet some giants! These Echinopsis (Trichocereus) atacamensis ssp. Pasacana is one of the largest columnar cacti you will encounter in Australia. They were originally grown from the habitat of seeds collected by Tom Dawson and Justin Gill in the early 1930s. They were part of a once thriving commercial nursery and garden and operated until 1985. In front of a plant of this size, it is simply awesome. Please be aware of the damage caused by cockatoos who are interested in the top of the plant. .
