  • Hi, Can you please tell me how soon after applying the Tenacity, that you put down the seed? And also, if I put down winter fertilizer & use the Tenacity & seed in the early spring (april in PA), will I be mowing like crzy if I put down starter fertilizer then as well? Thank you in advance for replying.

    Thanks again.

First time hearing of this waterless grass seed and starter fertilizer brand (October 16, 2020). But this is what you actually said: You planted your waterless seed in September 2018; it rained the next day and then didn't rain again for the next eight days. You saw some germination after that, but it was not until SIX WEEKS — mid-to-late October 2018 that your waterless seed and fertilizer had responded to occasional RAIN and grown to that thickness that you did not cut that yard until mid-to-late October, SIX WEEKS after sowing. I'm in Georgia and just want to get this fact straight for the Pennington Green grass seed I sowed in my backyard two days ago, October 13 and 14, as a matter of fact, covered with straw and begun to water — that the idiots that own my property yesterday October 15th came in and overloaded with needless extra seed and straw so that I can't water it daily until it germinates because I can't see the ground — they have smothered it, no air can get to it, no sunlight can get to it, and there is no rain meaning no air AND no water vapor in the forecast for the next ten days, meaning again that they have wasted all my effort and money and their money! Also, if by some miracle the seed germinates under all that smothering straw with no water in ten days, the property owners are going to mow and kill it all within nine days of growth!

  • Thank you. This is how you start the grass, but do you have to water it for it to continue to grow in the spring and summer?

Thanks for directing me to this video! I have learned a lot. So basically that's what I did in my area, but I used quinclorac prior, it did not do so well on dandelion though. (20k ft2) Then I reseeded using a sunny mix from a local farm supply store with 35% midnight blue grass, 35% red fescue, 30% perennial rye and starter fertilizer. This mix you are using is a turf type fescue with a small amount of KBG, right?
As far as the spot spraying the tenacity, I will definitely do that in the spring to keep the crabgrass coming in and destroying my work, but I guess my previous question on your other video should have included the part of " where do I know to spray tenacity in order for it to be a pre emergent, unless I spray the whole area? "
If I'd wanted to overseed in the spring with this mix, do you think the previous grass with compete with the new one? I do have the potential to running a sprinkler there with a 200ft hose.
Again, thank you so much for your advice!

Id love to see this area now silver. Also curious how you came to this handle name? ZXT titanium drummer maybe? Not a fan of the sound myself for my kit but beautiful cymbals.

What setting did you use on the spreader for the seed? I got the team mates plus seed and the bag does not have what setting to use for the spreader.

I don't think they sell that seed anymore. I can't find it anywhere. I've been searching and searching… Any idea where I can get it? I'm also in Mass

  • Joe Decareau 2 months ago

Did you start the tenacity in early August? I'm in Massachusetts as well and my backyard has no irrigation and I'm going to follow your lead here in a week or two. I know you seeded in Sept but I want to make sure I time the tenacity correctly.

Hands down best lawn channel. What's up with all Lesco seeds being out of stock? Maybe I will give this a shot with black beauty ultra. Will be happy with 50% germination
