It's like a moon cactus tip they are two whole different cacti the red color is due to the lack of chlorophyll and they graft that top onto a body cactus

Bro, red one is = Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, a mutant without chlorophyll, grafted on to a Hylocereus rootstock.

Mine grew little high baby leaves but no roots. And the mother leaf its attached to is drying up. When it dies do I bury it or let it be?

the grafted red cactus is called a moon cactus, two different types of cactus' grafted together. the red cactus does live very long, hey do this to speed up the growing process
