I had very good success with your method. I also tried starting seed in coco coir and they have been little green rockets so far!! I'll do a side by side comparison… but the ones done with your mix aren't as old as the ones in the coco coir. I used some fertilizer with the coir, so I might try bottom watering your mix with the same fertilizer to see how it reacts. Then I can compare your mix with and without the fertilizers. Thanks for the ideas…I've uploaded some of my tests on my channel if you'd like to see, and I'll keep updating as they grow.

You didn't say anything about watering it. Have you watered it at the start only? Or do we have to water it after 2-3 days?

I think its not mold you are seeing. I think its the roots. I have noticed thm too and as they grow bigger i have not seen the mold looking ones. Im not an expert but i have tried germinating some few months now.

How often do you water? Only the once?

    This worked very well!!!
I ran out of sand, so I didn't sift any on top. I just put the seed on top of the mix and sprayed it really well with a spray bottle.
I used a clear plastic to-go food container and placed it under fluorescent lights and acheived a 90%+ germination rate!!
Those exact same seeds in other mixes and methods were no where near as good!
Looks like this will become my 'go to' technique.
BTW- I didn't plant until the 9th of this month and today is the 23rd, so success after just 2 weeks!

So do you just put the lid on and let them be? I saw another video and they put the containers in plastic ziploc bags, I was wondering if that was necessary. Can I get glass tupperware containers and put a layer of rocks instead of drainage holes? I ask because I plan to put the containers in my room and I don't want them to be distracting. Also, how often do you water the seeds?
