Kaiser Permanente and Denver Botanic Gardens Plant the Seeds for Healthy Eating

Kaiser Permanente volunteers enjoyed a beautiful day working outdoors planting fresh vegetables for a new community farm at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield.
A local Kindergarten class also enjoyed working in the dirt. Afterwards they got a lesson in healthy eating and the chance to take a photo with our friend Krisp Broccoli. It was all part of the kick off celebration for the brand new Community Supporting Agriculture program, made possible by a community benefit grant from Kaiser Permanente. Shares of the CSA are sold to members of the public who then receive portions of the gardens fresh produce during the harvest season, from June through October. This is believed to be the nations first CSA collaboration between a botanical garden and a health care provider.
