Dr. Maria Montessori developed her method of education over 100 years ago. She was an Italian physician and educator – in fact the first woman doctor in Italy. She was a pioneer – driving education reform that had the interest of the child at its core.
The child-centered approach goes far beyond educating children in all of the usual subjects you would expect. It acknowledges and embraces the development of the whole child by taking in to account the intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical needs of each individual child.
