Nice moringa forest! Do your trees go dormant for the winter? And when do you prune and how much? I'm so impressed by your trees pod production. I grew them for the first time this year and am just now getting pods in October (it's been a very warm fall) but fear that they will die off in winter. Any wisdom you can share on pruning and wintering for greatest pod production would be most appreciated. Also, how long does it take for the pods to grow from beginning to where they are dried on the tree? I want to have dried ones for planting and eating. Thanks.

How long do they take till they get that size?

  • Jacq Davis 11 months ago

Jake, this confirms that you are next street from my house! A few ladies that does their morning walk mentioned that I should go visit your garden. Maybe sometime we can link up. I have four moringa trees growing in the front yard planted from seed in the ground since last July. They are all growing like crazy (12 foot tall) and I am pondering pruning them down to create a thicker growth so they can insulate themselves this winter. How do you prepare your moringa for the winter? Did yours die back from the freeze?

hi Jake I live in glendale, az I love how well your garden is doing. I'm trying out a hugelkultur mound :). I need to figure out a way to improve my soil, I've been reading allot about green manure which is cover crops, the legume family has nodes on the roots which fix nitrogen into the soil for the bacteria to break it down for the plants hopefully I understood that right. so far my goji berry is doing great it keeps putting out berry it's small though but I'm thinking of putting it on top of the hugelkultur mound also I have a dwarf pomegranate tree and other plants but they went doing as well. hope too see more videos.
