    That’s not rare. That’s a mammillaria. They’re spray painted or dipped. Check the dirt when you repot it. The dye will be all over the bottom. The spines will be white when they grow out and the “skin” should be green. Any cactus with colored spines has been painted.

    The purple one is called a Mammillaria gracilis fragilis monstrose or an "Arizona Snowcap" I purchased one (the same color purple) from a local discount store. I researched it and it turns out all of those cactus have been painted I(actually a long lasting dye) and the original color is white and it will eventually loose it's hue and go back to it's true colors.
