Don’t let a small space, even one in the sky, deter you from gardening. Small spaces can yield a ton of beauty and enjoyment. The pleasure I extract from this small balcony sky garden – watering it, dead-heading flowers, and fussing over every single pot – is enormous. I love every container, big and small; and I derive tremendous enjoyment from relaxing in my garden, whether I’m reading, writing, sipping a coffee, nursing a glass of wine or an aperitif, savouring a meal, watching the bees in the lavender, the hoverflies buzzing in the lobelia, or simply sitting quietly to watch the last rays of evening light fade away. If you think you might enjoy gardening and you live in a high-rise apartment: go for it! It’s worth hauling up every pot, every bag of soil and every plant. My Balcony Container Garden at Dusk

The light at different times of day plays differently with the colours of things. I love the way the red geraniums in my balcony container garden “pop” out at dusk. If you love gardening, don’t let a small space, even one in the sky, deter you from having one. Small spaces can yield a ton of beauty and enjoyment.
