In just his first year of being planted in the ground he has given us about 100 delicious figs! For a year one tree the figs are really big and I predict the figs will get larger and larger with every season that goes by! To get the full figgy flavor, sugars and jammy texture, I'd urge you to wait until the figs are completely drooping down and ripe. :)

These grow successfully up to zone 6 which is up to St. Louis or Kansas City.

These grow in Dallas everywhere. Believe me they will take the Arizona cold but i dont know about the drought. They will handle the heat.

Great video. I plan to put in three figs this spring. Besides this one, what are your favorite varieties of fig for the PHX area?

I have been trying to grow figs in Cave Creek. Not having the same success you are having in spite of 9 trees. Maybe I need to go see Mr O'Leary. Enjoy your videos and especially your enthusiasm. Look forward to seeing your garden someday.

Awesome! We just planted a black mission fig tree 3 months ago, and I think the tree is about 3-4 years old. Excited for next season! Any tips for keeping the birds away? I had only few ripe figs on our newly planted tree, and unfortunately the birds got to them before I did. Hello from Glendale, AZ :)
