Hey Lynn!! I am addicted to aloes!! Aloe species, hybrids, what name you!?? I'm wondering if you know good ways to get some of the more rare aloe seeds that are less common?? Love the vid!

As always, a beautiful collection of plants, Lyn! Your plants are very happy indeed! Alas, just today I had to bury my beloved 28 year old jade plant as it was so badly infested with powdery mildew it was beyond rescue despite many efforts with all the known remedies (including unpleasant chemical warfare and radical pruning!). In its lifetime it flowered for me three or four times during the winter way back when I used to live in a colder house. Now I live in a warm, well insulated house and it never flowered again! Anyway, I saved one little cutting from the mother plant which seems unaffected by fungus so hopefully I will be able to grow it again. I've had quite a battle with powdery mildew on my jade over the years and never managed to keep it totally free from it. 🙁

It's interesting how almost all cactus hail from the new world (Americas), whereas many succulents hail from the old world, (South Africa and Namibia in particular). I have often thought that during the distant past when the American continent broke off from Africa/Europe and drifted west, the succulents on the American landmass gradually evolved to become cactus with areoles, while succulents in Africa did not. On the whole I have always found succulents are far more forgiving with watering than cactus and seem far less susceptible to root and stem rot. It's a fascinating topic since both are essentially from the same family of plants. Most succulents are very attractive plants at all shapes and sizes. Merry Plantmas Lyn.

I love gasterias , aloes & haworthias! All great tuff succulents ! Withstand a lot of light & soil conditions that might be used in the average home , aloes maybe a tiny bit more picky but the other two are real troopers! Great beginner plants Lyn! From Morris park in the Ozarks to across the Emerald isle have a great Sunday!!!

Thanks for sharing. I love aloes but for some reason have had bad luck with them. I had someone give me a bunch years ago. I was happy and planted them in the yard. Then they died while neighors have them with no issues. I kind of gave up but then Chris was a at a customer's job and he complimented their garden full of aloes and they said take what you want. So he brought me home a big one. I am waiting for the cut stem to harden before I try to root it and try again. Here in Florida they grow in the ground in our yards. BTW, I'm on PC so links in the description work best for me. I have seen your top five cactus and like that video a lot.
