[Total: 0   Average: 0/5] Martin Survival discusses another wild edible plant called Mojave Yucca, the flowers are very bitter when consumed raw. When cooked or roasted the leaves are very tasty to say the least. If you enjoy this video hit the THUMBS UP BUTTON and SUBSCRIBE to Martin Survival on Youtube. I like this guy since I like to go foraging for wild plants and herbs myself!!! It's either foraging or fishing, or both!

We went out this last weekend and had a Yucca Bud Appetizer before our meal. It was awesome! I cooked them in some roasted pepper infused olive oil and added garlic powder. Now I have to wait for the potatoes to grow so we can try them. We live in the high plains dessert area of Western Nebraska. Not very many mushrooms here but we have cactus too!

Good job! Its true that eating most wild edibles can cause upset stomach. It is advisable to eat small amounts often as you familiarize yourself with them. Every time I hike I try to consume some type of wild edible to keep my pallet accustomed.

Any thoughts on eating the flower before it opens . I ate it raw , Reminds me of okra . But it made my throat itch . The feeling of tingle almost numbness like feeling however I did not get sick ? Our fruits in west texas don't quite get that big so it must be a different species .

I know of a few people that CAN'T eat Yuccas. Literally CAN'T. They will get violently sick. I've eaten it multiple times and every so often my stomach can't handle it. I would be very careful consuming it.
