Arizona’s best shade tree

We have asked greeniedigs.com many times: What shade should I plant? There are many different options for shadow trees, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Today, we want to share the 3 different shade trees we planted in our yard, and hope that it can help you understand some ideas that suit your gardening needs. A few years ago, when we first started gardening, we planted mangoes, bananas, avocados and guava on blank boards in the backyard, wondering why they could not survive. We put stakes and shade cloths to protect our baby fruit trees from the intense summer sun in Arizona, but this is not enough. After starting to add shade trees, we can see our backyard has become an oasis! With shade trees, we now have a microclimate that can protect our fruit trees from the sun, wind and even frost! We firmly believe that natural shadows are the only way to go. If we have to start from scratch, we will start with shadow trees. In this video, we show you sissoo (or Indian rosewood), Chinese elm and tipuana tipu. Each species does provide quick shade, but before putting it on the ground, it is important to know what to plant. Sissoos are known for their aggressive roots, and they can even sprout from these roots, creating a crazy Sissoo forest when you want to have an edible forest! Unfortunately, we will remove this tree in the fall and will definitely record this experience. However, we can replace some awesome shades, and we are happy to be able to take you on this part of the journey too! Do you have a favorite shade? If so, which one?
