Deaf poet Donna Williams’s signed poem (in British Sign Language) “Phoenix Garden” tells a story of the destruction and reconstruction of her garden after a fire. It was performed in February 2011 at the Bristol centre for Deaf people.
The poems in this channel are part of the collection made as the University of Bristol Sign Language Poetry Anthology with the aim to study metaphor in sign language poetry. The poem is discussed in the book Introducing sign language literature folklore and creativity, by Rachel Sutton-Spence and Michiko Kaneko, published by Palgrave press.
