Channel NewsAsia Highlights Timberland Tree Planting in the Horqin Desert and Singapore

The Horqin Project is a large-scale tree planting initiative designed to reverse massive desertification. Due to its rich water and grass resources, Horqin was once called the Horqin Pasture. Overgrazing of the land led to desertification, and the Horqin Pasture gradually turned into the Horqin Desert, resulting in terrible sandstorms that sweep across China and neighboring countries.

Since 2001, Timberland employees and partners have volunteered their time to plant the Timberland forest. What started out as a partnership between Timberland, its NGO partner Green Net, and the local Horqin farming community, is now a collaborative effort that has been recognized by Chinese celebrities, citizens and the media.
