Desert Botanical Gardens (DBG) in Phoenix, AZ, is a 140 acre botanical garden with over 50,000 plants and over 4,000 species, offering one of the finest collections of desert plants from around the world. A major tourist attraction to the area, over 450,000 visit each year.

In August of 2019, Roy Spears of Adobe Masters, specializing in adobe repair and in the application of Silox Adobe and Rammed Earth Water Repellents to adobe homes, was contacted by DBG maintenance manager Chris McCabe to consult on their sun-dried, mud adobe building constructed in the late 1930’s. What follows is about five minutes of the almost one hour long phone—with photographs—of that professional consultation.
