MBJH TED-Ed Club member and TEDxYouth@MBJH speaker, Daniel Carmichael, explains what a “DIY Education” is. Daniel explains how he manages by focusing on school from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM and then works on his own innovative educational projects after school. Daniel has created his own learning moments through efforts in changing the meaning of education. Daniel shares with the audience that education should extend beyond the walls of your school. If you want more, find it. If you aren’t interested in what you’re learning, learn about the things that intrigue you!

Daniel is a ninth-grade student at Mountain Brook Junior High. He enjoys making jokes, listening to music, and building things. For years, he has worked on projects and cultivated interests outside of school that help him learn just as much as what he learns in school.
